What Is A Dental Implant?

s-perfectSmile1.jpgMeadows Dental Care provides exceptional quality dentistry including dental implants to those in Palatine, IL. Dental implants can be necessary for many reasons. A dental implant is essentially chosen to replace a missing tooth and is an artificial tooth that is used when the original tooth is highly damaged or lost due to an accident or tooth decay. Dental implants can improve your smile, allow you to comfortably eat your favorite foods, and give you greater confidence. Listed below are a variety of tooth replacement options we offer.

  • Single tooth replacement
  • Anterior tooth replacement
  • Posterior tooth replacement
  • Full upper tooth replacement

Dental Implants That Can Change Your Life

Dental implants are not a one size fits all treatment. Here at Meadows Dental Care, we offer a variety of options to fit any cosmetic dentistry need you may have. Every patient is unique, and we like to cater to them and help offer the treatment that is best suited for their needs. Below is a list of different treatments for dental implants.

  • Root Implants: Most popular and the most common. It matches the size and shape of your original tooth and is placed in the jawbone. This surgery is done while you are under anesthesia and after the implant properly fuses with the jawbone, you will return for fitting the new tooth. This process will take approximately 6-8 months.
  • Plate Form Implants: This option is used to widen the jawbone first before going through the root implant process. You will also undergo surgery with anesthesia. The plate form will then be fitted with the new tooth.
  • Subperiosteal Implants: An uncommon procedure that is only done when the jawbone is too weak and cannot support the implant. Most of our patients do not need this option.

Proper Care For Your New Implants

It is crucial to take proper care of your new implants upon completion of your surgery. Maintain healthy dental habits to avoid bacteria infecting the area of your new implant and keeping your teeth and gums healthy will allow them to heal without complications. Our professional dentists and orthodontics in Palatine IL, recommend a bi-annual visit to our office to check on the healing process and the health of your implants. Your implants are designed to last more than 20 years as long as you take proper care of them daily.
